Johnson's 41 leads Miracles past Highlanders

Melvin Johnson III erupted for 41 points as the Moncton Miracles rolled past the Cape Breton Highlanders 120-95 at the Moncton Coliseum on Sunday for their third straight win.
Branden Kearney had 16 points and Tyrell Tate added 14 for the Miracles, who are 5-2 in their last seven games after losing eight of the previous nine.
Cape Breton's Chadrack Lufile grabbed a franchise record and NBL season-high 21 rebounds, while Hank Thorn led the Highlanders with 25 points.
Moncton was in front 53-32 at the break and enjoyed a comfortable lead throughout the second half. The Miracles bench accounted for more than 60% of the team's scoring, combining for 76 points.
This was the fifth game this season scoring at least 30 points for Johnson III, who shot 16/26 from the field including 7/13 on three-pointers.
Moncton improves to 9-16, to move one game ahead of the Highlanders (7-16) for fourth place and the last playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.
Cape Breton will have a chance to bounce right back against the Miracles, as these teams meet again in a rematch Monday night at the Moncton Coliseum.
