Highlanders beat Riptide 114-95 to close in on playoff spot

The Cape Breton Highlanders kept their playoff hopes alive with a big 114-95 road win over the Saint John Riptide at Harbour Station on Thursday.
Jarryn Skeete had 23 points and 9 rebounds for the Highlanders while Saint John's Anthony Anderson scored 30 and dished out 10 dimes.
The Riptide led by six, 53-47, at halftime, before Cape Breton turned the tied in the third quarter when it out-scored Saint John 34-16 to take a 12-point advantage, 81-69, in to the final frame.
Eight players grabbed at least four board for the Highlanders, who dominated on the glass, nearly doubling Saint John 72-38 on rebounds.
With the win, Cape Breton improves to 12-23 and is now just 0.5 games back of Moncton (13-23) for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Division. The Highlanders will host the Island Storm at Centre 200 on Friday, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. Saint John, which is locked into second place in the division, has one game remaining on its regular season schedule, at Cape Breton on Sunday.
